Happy Easter

Happy Easter! Joyeuse Pâques!

We celebrated Easter in France last weekend, just like in the US, but with a few different traditions.

It seems the Easter Bunny is too busy hopping around the US distributing eggs and chocolate to make it to France by Easter morning. Here, the church bells (les cloches) ring and  distribute eggs for the children to find. As part of the festivities, you can also buy delicious looking chocolate bells, eggs, hens, and more from local shops.

I started off the day at church celebrating Jesus' resurrection, then came home to prepare for a large "family" pot-luck dinner. My Easter family included friends from France, Ethiopia, Brazil, and the US.

The menu was as varied as our origins:

Baguettes and cheese
Salad
Quiche
Ham
Rice
Corn pudding
Glazed Carrots
Ethiopian injera
Fried Potatoes

Hmm…can you tell by the selection that the Americans dominated the mix this time?

Time for a true Brazilian drink, caipirinhas!

Ready to devour a delicious meal!

I recovered from the amazing meal by attending a picnic the next day with…more eating of course. Unfortunately, the weather didn't get the memo that it was a jour férié (public holiday) and it started pouring in the early afternoon. But…we found a way to improvise!
Rainy day picnic to cap off the weekend.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with their families!

A+
